Turkeys are just like cats and dogs

Did you know that Turkeys recognize each other by their unique voices? It's true, researchers have identified more than 20 distinct vocalizations, among wild turkeys! Just like cats and dogs, turkeys are sensitive, intelligent, and social animals who thrive on companionship and affection. 

Sadly, turkeys (and other birds) are not protected by the federal Humane Slaughter Act. This means they are often killed without first being stunned. And every year, more than 46 million turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving holiday meals. But it doesn't have to be this way!
